Political Lunch

See Forward Fund’s annual Political Lunch series aims at creating a platform to showcase the full spectrum of the political work of progressive base-building organizations, particularly to showcase the electoral work that does not show up in c3 only funder spaces. We strongly believe there is a new layer of electoral infrastructure maturing at this moment around the country, an independent political force, that will be key in helping create a more just society.

Spring 2016 Political Lunch

Please join us for a “Super Tuesday! Political Lunch” hosted by See Forward Fund, Democracy Alliance and the Florida Alliance. The 2016 electoral season is marked by an unprecedented trend of money in politics, attacks on community and labor organizing and dirty energy interests doing everything possible to maintain the status quo, slowing progress to a renewable energy future.  We will learn about the current state of play on key races and contested states on the 2016 electoral map from the perspective of Brandon Davis, National Political Director SEIU, drill down into trends and efforts to create alignment in the pivotal political state of Florida from Carlos Odio, Director Florida Alliance, and hear how political power to act on climate change is being built in contested states from Roger Kim, Senior Strategy and Planning Officer at the Democracy Alliance.

When: Tuesday, March 1st from 12:15 to 1:45 pm
Where:  Fontainebleau Hotel (right next to the Eden Roc Hotel in Miami)
A buffet lunch will be provided.  There is no fee, however to participate, please RSVP to Linda Tucker (lindat@seeforward.org) as soon as possible.

Winter 2015 Political Lunch

The 2nd annual See Forward Fund Political Lunch took place on October 6th at the Kellogg Conference Center Auditorium in Washington, DC. We were pleased to be joined by Daniel Espinoza, Director of Strategic Initiatives at National People’s Alliance and Jon Green, Deputy Director at the Working Families Party. As well as, Larry Stafford from Progressive Maryland and Charly Carter from Maryland Working Families Party. The panel engaged on a conversation about independent political organizations (IPOs) and the emergence of building independent political power as a major strategy among progressive based-building organizations. They also updated us on the current landscape of IPOs around the country and how this work interests with social justice civic engagement.

Spring 2014 Political Lunch

The first Spring Political Lunch was held in San Francisco on June 18th, 2014 and was structured as two conversations in a panel format. The first panel was on state-based independent political organizations and national networks. The second panel was a discussion about building progressive political power in California organized by our friend Ludovic Blain from the Progressive Era Project.

We were honored to have had such a powerful and insightful group of speakers. We would like to share a couple of articles showcasing the work of the groups in the first panel as well as the presentations made by the speakers in the second panel.

Panel One: Independent Political Organizations - Moderator: Brandon Davis, Political Director, SEIU
